Early Life and Education
Tao Lin, an American writer, was born in Manhattan, New York to Taiwanese parents. He attended New York University, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism.
Writing Career
Lin has published two novels, a novella, a short story collection, and two poetry collections. His work has garnered both praise and criticism, with some hailing him as a genius and others dismissing him as a fraud.
Debut Novel and Collections
Lin's debut novel, "Eeeee Eee Eeee," and short story collection, "Bed," were released in March 2007. His first poetry collection, "you are a little bit happier than i am," was published in November 2006.

In August 2011, Lin announced he had secured an agent for his third novel, which he described as a combination of the works of Lorrie Moore, Bret Easton Ellis, and Siddhartha. The novel, titled "Taipei," was sold to the publisher Vintage in November 2011.

Lin has launched the publishing venture Muumuu House, which has published poetry collections by Ellen Kennedy and Brandon Scott Gorrell. His writing has influenced a generation of young writers known for their minimalist style and exploration of alienation and depression.
