Tapio Wilska: Heavy Metal Vocalist with a Diverse Musical Journey

Early Years and Musical Influences

Tapio Wilska's musical journey began in the mid-90s as a member of bands Lyijykomppania, Stray Toasters, and Nattvindens Gråt alongside Tuomas Holopainen and Sami Vanska. His inspiration stems from legendary bands such as Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Dead Kennedys, Venom, Thin Lizzy, and The Pixies.

Nightwish Collaboration

Wilska made a notable contribution to the heavy metal landscape by participating in the recording of Nightwish's 1998 album, "Oceanborn." His vocals graced the tracks "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean," "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion," and "Moondance." He also appeared on the band's "10th Man Down" single, "From Wishes to Eternity" DVD, and "End of Innocence" single.

Finntroll Era

In 2003, Wilska joined the folk-viking metal band Finntroll. During his tenure, he recorded two albums: the experimental "Visor om Slutet" and the acclaimed "Nattfödd." Wilska also starred in the music video for the song "Trollhammeren." However, in 2006, the band parted ways with him due to undisclosed personal reasons.

Collaborations and Beyond

Beyond Nightwish and Finntroll, Wilska has participated in recordings for Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus. As the vocalist of the heavy metal band Sethian, he continues to captivate audiences with his powerful vocals and eclectic musical influences.
