Early Life and Career before Slipknot

Warehouse and Forklift Operator

Before joining Slipknot, Craig Jones worked in a warehouse as a forklift operator.

Thrash Metal Bands

Prior to working in the warehouse, Jones played guitar in several thrash metal bands.

Modifidious

Jones, along with Joey Jordison and Shawn Crahan, played in the band Modifidious before joining Slipknot.

Role in Slipknot

Sampling and Vocals

Jones is known for his signature samples and occasional backing vocals. He utters the line "133, number 5, sampling" in the intro to "Welcome to Our Neighborhood" and "Craig, number 5, sampling" in the video for "We Sold Our Souls for Rock 'n' Roll."

Silent Presence

Craig is the only Slipknot member who has never given a full interview without his mask. He is known for his quiet and stoic demeanor, rarely speaking at press conferences or appearing without his mask.

Stage Performance

During performances, Jones remains near his instruments and rarely ventures away.

Mask Evolution

Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.

Jones wore a plain stocking over his head and a T-shirt with the word "SPAM" printed on it.

Slipknot

Jones wore a go-kart helmet with 12-inch nails driven into it. He occasionally attached a camera flash to the helmet.

Iowa

Craig replaced the go-kart helmet with a diving helmet with the same nails. The mask featured a zipper for a mouth opening and 12 spikes.

Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses

The mask remained largely unchanged, but the nails were extended and had a silver sheen.

All Hope Is Gone

The mask was more rounded and closely resembled the shape of Jones's head.

.5: The Gray Chapter

The mask remained unchanged except for the addition of longer nails.
We Are Not Your Kind

The nails were rearranged with smaller nails on the sides and longer nails on the top in a mohawk-like formation. The eyes were covered with fabric.
