Tara Subkoff: Actress and Fashion Designer
Early Life and EducationTara Lynn Subkoff was born on December 10, 1972, in Westport, Connecticut. She briefly attended Otis Parsons School but dropped out to pursue her career in the entertainment industry.
Acting Career
Subkoff has appeared in over a dozen films and television shows. She starred in the 2003 music video for Blondie's song "Good Boys." In 1993, she played a role in the thriller "When the Bough Breaks." Other notable roles include Liz McConnell in the crime drama "True Crime" (1996), Sharon in the thriller "Freeway" (1996), and a waitress in the Academy Award-winning comedy "As Good as It Gets" (1997). She also appeared in the films "The Last Days of Disco" (1998), "American Pie" (1999), and "The Cell" (2000).
Fashion Line: Imitation of Christ
In collaboration with Matthew Damhave, Subkoff co-founded the fashion line "Imitation of Christ." The line involved repurposing secondhand clothing into stylish new pieces, drawing inspiration from Thomas à Kempis' 15th-century book. The fashion show featured creative director Chloë Sevigny and model Scarlett Johansson on the runway.
Other Collaborations
Subkoff also designed shoes for Easy Spirit. She appeared in the television series "Northern Exposure," "The Clan," and "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman."
Personal Life
Subkoff was romantically involved with Anton Newcombe from the neo-psychedelic band "Brian Jonestown Massacre." She was later linked to filmmaker Wes Anderson.
