Elephantiasis is a condition characterized by abnormal swelling of body tissues due to parasitic infection. It typically affects the legs and genitals, causing them to become thick and pendulous. The excessive fluid accumulation can lead to darkening, ulceration, and, in severe cases, damage to blood vessels, resulting in potentially life-threatening complications. Treatment involves antibiotics to eliminate the parasites and surgery to reduce the swelling when it becomes excessively large.
