Biography of Tatiana Baturina

Tatiana Baturina, a literary critic and poet, was born on January 13, 1928, in Baku, in a family of lawyers. In 1941, she moved to Stavropol, where she resided until 1954. Baturina enrolled in the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov in 1945, and later pursued her postgraduate studies at the Department of Soviet Literature.

In 1954, she defended her dissertation on M. Gorky's story cycles "Tales of Italy" and "Across Russia" and continued to live in Stavropol. She initially worked for the newspaper "Stavropolskaya Pravda" and later became a senior lecturer, and eventually an associate professor, at the Department of Russian Literature at the Pedagogical Institute. Baturina dedicated significant attention to literary criticism and contemporary issues in literary studies.

In 1970, she became a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR and is currently a member of the Union of Writers of Russia. For nearly two decades, Baturina served as a member of the commission on criticism, and from 1980 onwards, she became a member of the Council on Criticism of the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation.

She was also a member of the editorial board of the almanac "Stavropol" for many years and served on the editorial board of Stavropol Publishing House. In 1977, Baturina received the Prize of the Union of Writers of the USSR and the State Publishing Committee of the USSR for her manuscript of the book "Torch in the Heart," which addressed the general problems of Soviet literature.

Since 1990, she has been living in St. Petersburg. Stavropol Publishing House has published several of her books, including "The Second Meeting with the Caucasus" (about M. Gorky) in 1967, "Stop the Moment" (general questions of art) in 1968, "Heart and Intellect" (a collection of literary-critical articles) in 1973, "Invitation to the Glass Mountain" (a collection of literary portraits and essays) in 1979, "The Case of Our Life" (a documentary narrative) in 1983, "As Long as I Breathe..." (a collection of literary portraits and articles) in 1987, and "Alexander Bozhko" (a documentary literary work about a popular teacher) in 1989.

Baturina's works have also been published by "Sovetsky Pisatel" Publishing House, including her book "Torch in the Heart" in 1977. She has authored around two hundred articles, reviews, literary portraits, and essays in local and central publications, focusing on the literature of the 1920s and contemporary Russian literature.

Currently, Baturina is engaged in the creative work of A.P. Bibik and other contemporary writers from St. Petersburg.
