Early Life and Career

Tatiana Nazarova was born Tatiana Martynenko in Sochi on October 5, 1960. After her father abandoned the family, Nazarova was raised by her mother. Following high school, she joined the United Music Ensembles and performed in local restaurants. In 1980, she enrolled in the vocal department of the Sochi Music College. From 1983 to 1990, Nazarova was a soloist with the Festival Concert Hall Variety Orchestra in Sochi. Dissatisfied with the material she was offered, she began writing her own songs.

Songwriting Success

In 1987, Nazarova began working at the All-Union Creative Workshop for the Variety Arts. In 1991, she met with Anatoly Rozanov, the leader of the group Freestyle, and presented her songs. This encounter led to a seven-year collaboration, during which Nazarova wrote lyrics for the band. Using her mother's maiden name as a pseudonym, she became known as Tatiana Nazarova. However, this created confusion when her name was listed as T. Martynenko on karaoke tracks for the hit song "Ah, What a Woman!"

Collaborative Partnerships

From 1998 to 2002, Nazarova worked in Moscow with Igor Krutoy, co-writing songs such as "Island of a Thousand Kisses," "Crystal Glass," "You Are My Light," and "Play." She continued to collaborate with Svetlana Lazareva, Felix Tsarikati, the Zaitsev sisters, Larisa Dolina, and others.

Author-Performer and Personal Journey

In 2003, Nazarova transitioned to writing and performing her own songs. She renounced her father's name and made Nazarova her official surname. This path led to her facing accusations of plagiarism, as some listeners believed that a man named Martynenko had written the lyrics to "Ah, What a Woman!"

Legacy

Tatiana Nazarova's songwriting talent has contributed significantly to the Russian music industry. Her songs have been performed by renowned artists like Freestyle, Svetlana Lazareva, and Alla Pugacheva. Nazarova's signature style and ability to create memorable lyrics continue to inspire and entertain audiences.
