Early Life and Career

Temuera Derek Morrison was born in Rotorua, New Zealand, on December 26, 1960, to Lori Morrison, a musician, and Hana Stafford Morrison, a shoemaker. His heritage includes Scottish, Irish, Arawa, and Maniapoto ancestry.

As a child, Morrison participated in rugby and was a member of the Ngati Rangiwewehi kapa haka group, attending festivals throughout New Zealand. Despite his passion for the arts, he struggled academically, often missing school due to touring commitments. However, he received a scholarship to Wesley College in Auckland and completed his studies.

Television Career

Morrison's television career began in 1973 with a role in the children's adventure series "Rangi's Catch." He later gained recognition for his portrayal of Dr. Hone Ropata in the long-running soap opera "Shortland Street" from 1992 to 1995 and again in 2008 for the show's 4000th episode.

In 1994, Morrison's performance as Jake in the groundbreaking drama "Once Were Warriors" earned him critical acclaim and a New Zealand Film and Television Award for Best Actor. He reprised the role in the 1999 sequel "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?" and received another New Zealand Film Award.

"Star Wars" and International Recognition

Morrison's international breakthrough came with his portrayal of Jango Fett in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2002). As the genetic template for the clone army, he also provided the voices for the clones. He would later reprise his role in "Star Wars" video games, the "Ashoka" series (2023), and as the older Boba Fett in "The Mandalorian" (2020). In 2021, he starred as Boba Fett in the Disney+ series "The Book of Boba Fett."
