Early Life and Introduction to Judo

Temur Rakhimov, a Tajikistani judoka of Uzbek origin, was born on July 8, 1997, in the Rudaki district of Tajikistan. Inspired by his grandfather, Rustam Abdurakhmanov, Rakhimov began practicing martial arts at the tender age of six. Attributing his early success to his grandfather's guidance, Rakhimov has since become one of Tajikistan's most decorated wrestlers.

Career Highlights

Rakhimov's career has been marked by a string of impressive performances in both domestic and international competitions. He has secured medals of varying distinction, including:

- Silver medal at the El Fujairah Asian Judo Championships (2019)

- Bronze medal at the Bishkek Asian Judo Championships (2021)
- Silver medal at the Baku Judo Grand Slam (2021)

- Bronze medals at the Abu Dhabi Judo Grand Slam (2021), Tel Aviv Judo Grand Slam (2022), and the Grand Prix de Judo Marrakech (2019)

2024 Paris Olympics

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Rakhimov's Olympic journey began with a decisive victory over German judoka Erik Abramov in the round of 16. He then defeated Uzbekistani judoka Alisher Yusupov in the quarterfinals before suffering a setback in the semifinals against reigning world champion Teddy Riner of France. In the bronze medal match, Rakhimov triumphed over Cuban judoka Andy Granda, securing a bronze medal alongside Yusupov, who had also advanced to the third-place playoff.
