Early Life and EducationBorn on July 15, 1952, in Salt Ste. Marie, Michigan, Terrence "Terry" O'Quinn grew up near Newberry, Michigan, as one of 11 siblings. He studied at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and the University of Iowa. O'Quinn changed his surname from "Quinn" to "O'Quinn" to avoid confusion with another actor named Terrence Quinn in the film industry.
Early Career in Film and Television
O'Quinn made his acting debut in the 1980 television film "F.D.R.: The Last Year" as James Roosevelt. From there, he gradually landed supporting roles in films such as Michael Chapman's "All the Right Moves," Daniel Attias' "Silver Bullet," Robert Benton's "Places in the Heart," and John Avnet's "Between Two Women." O'Quinn also had guest-starring roles in several television shows, including "Miami Vice," "The Twilight Zone," "Tales of the Unexpected," and "Remington Steele."
Breakthrough with "The Stepfather"
O'Quinn gained wider recognition for his title role in the 1987 horror film "The Stepfather" and its 1989 sequel, "Stepfather II." He portrayed Jerry Blake, a manipulative and murderous family man who seeks to create the perfect family by eliminating anyone who disappoints him.

In 1996, O'Quinn joined Chris Carter's television series "Millennium," where he played Peter Watts for three seasons. Personal Life
O'Quinn has been married to Laurie for over 25 years, and they have two sons, Oliver and Hunter. They previously resided in Reisterstown, Maryland, but relocated to Hawaii following the conclusion of "Lost." O'Quinn and Laurie own homes in both Hawaii and Maryland.
