In total, the Duggars have 9 daughters and 10 sons, all of whom have names starting with the letter "J." As of the writing, Michelle Duggar, the family matriarch, is pregnant with their 20th child, which will likely necessitate another name change for the program.

The Duggars reside in Tontitown, Arkansas. Before their reality television debut with "17 Kids and Counting," they had featured in several specials on various American television networks. Their journey to reality stardom officially began on September 29, 2008, with the launch of their long-running show.
Jim Bob and Michelle
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar met in the early 1980s when Jim Bob, along with another member of their local church, was sent to talk to the newly converted Michelle. A romance blossomed, and on July 21, 1984, Jim Bob and Michelle got married. Initially, the couple planned to delay having children. For at least three years following their first child, Josh's birth, they used birth control. However, after Michelle experienced a miscarriage while on birth control, they decided to abandon contraception. They reasoned that God would supply them with as many children as He intended for them. Soon after discontinuing the pills, Michelle became pregnant again, and this time, she delivered the Duggars' first set of twins, Jana and John-David. From that point forward, Michelle gave birth roughly every 18 months.
Conservative Beliefs
The Duggars are devout conservative Christians whose faith dictates significant aspects of their lifestyle. They strictly limit television viewing to their own shows and important news broadcasts. Internet access is also restricted. The boys keep their hair short and cut it themselves to save money, while the girls grow their hair long. The Duggars homeschool their children. Romantic relationships are discouraged except for chaperoned courtship, and even then, physical intimacy is forbidden.
Raising a Large Family
Jim Bob and Michelle navigate the challenges of raising such a large family through a reliance on their older children, who actively participate in the upbringing of the younger ones. The parenting style is relaxed, with older siblings assuming the roles of friends and helpers rather than strict disciplinarians.
Jim Bob's Career and Income
Jim Bob Duggar served as a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. Currently, he works in real estate and investment. The family's income is primarily derived from various rental sources. In 2000, the Duggars began constructing a new home, which was completed with the help of the Discovery Networks, who persuaded Arkansas contractors to donate their time and resources to the family. The network also furnished the completed house with furniture and appliances.
