Early Life and Career in Brazil and Portugal
Tiago Cionek, a Polish footballer of Brazilian descent, began his professional career in his home country with Cuiabá, CRB, and Bragança in Portugal. In 2008, he made the move to Poland, joining Jagiellonia Białystok.
Breakthrough with Jagiellonia Białystok
Cionek made his Polish Ekstraklasa debut for Jagiellonia in 2008, quickly establishing himself as a regular in the team's backline. His first goal for the club came in 2009, and he played a crucial role in helping Jagiellonia win the Polish Cup in the same year.
Stints in Italy: Padova and Modena
In 2012, Cionek transferred to Italian Serie B club Padova, where he made his debut in 2012. A year later, he joined Modena on loan, scoring his first goal for the club in 2014. Following his successful loan spell, Modena signed Cionek permanently.
Career Highlights with Palermo and SPAL
In 2016, Cionek made a big move to Serie A club Palermo, marking his top-flight debut in Italy. After a short stint at Palermo, he transferred to SPAL in 2018, where he currently plays as a defender.
International Career
Cionek earned his first international cap for Poland in 2014, making his debut in a friendly match against Germany. He was part of the Polish squad that participated in the 2016 UEFA European Championship in France, appearing in one match against Ukraine.
