Early Life and Career
British swimmer and two-time Olympic medalist, Henry Halsey Battersby, was born and raised in England.
1908 Olympics
At the 1908 London Olympics, Battersby made his Olympic debut. He earned a silver medal in the 1500-meter freestyle event and placed third in his heat in the 400-meter freestyle semi-final.
1912 Olympics
Four years later, Battersby competed in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He achieved a bronze medal in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay. Additionally, he reached the semi-finals in both the 400 and 1500-meter freestyle individual events, showcasing his exceptional endurance and versatility in the pool.
Post-Olympic Career
Following his successful Olympic achievements, Battersby continued to swim competitively for several more years. However, he eventually retired from swimming and pursued other interests.
