Thomas Berthold

Early Life and Club Career

Thomas Berthold was born on November 12, 1964, in Hanau, Germany. He began his football career with hometown club FC Hanau 93. In 1982, he joined Eintracht Frankfurt, where he played for five seasons and made 322 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 22 goals.

International Career

From 1985 to 1994, Berthold represented the West German and German national teams, earning 62 caps. He was part of the teams that finished as runners-up in the 1986 FIFA World Cup and the 1990 FIFA World Cup, which West Germany won. He also participated in the 1988 UEFA European Championship.

Club Career Continued

After leaving Frankfurt, Berthold played for Hellas Verona and Roma in Italy. In 1991, he returned to Germany and played for Bayern Munich and Stuttgart. He ended his career with a season at Turkish club Adanaspor in 2001.
