Thomas Curtis, a young actor, began his rise in the film industry in 2000 with the crime drama "Panic" directed by Henry Bromell. He starred alongside Neve Campbell, William H. Macy, and Tracey Ullman and delivered such a remarkable performance as seven-year-old Alex that he received offers to continue his acting career. In the same year, Curtis played Georgie in the adventure film "The Cactus Kid" directed by Don Ashley, portraying a boy who loves comic books about the cowboy and outlaw Cactus Kid. Later in the film, it is revealed that the boy is terminally ill, as his father is restricted from seeing him by court order.

In 2001, Curtis appeared in the comedy short film "Bacon Wagon" and the drama-focused short film "Silent Mercury." The following year, the budding actor worked with director Andy Tennant on the comedy "Sweet Home Alabama," alongside Reese Witherspoon and Josh Lucas.
