Tim Andrews: NASCAR Racing Prodigy

Early Life and Career

Tim Andrews, born on January 15, 1983, in Mooresville, North Carolina, is the son of renowned NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew chief, Paul Andrews. Inspired by his father's success, Tim embarked on his racing journey in the Busch North Series in 2002, where he made a remarkable sixth-place finish at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The following year, he earned the coveted Rookie of the Year award but was unfortunately released from the series mid-season.

Success in the Busch Series

From 2004 to 2008, Andrews participated in various races of the Busch North Series, which underwent name changes to the Busch East Series in 2006 and the Camping World East Series in 2008. His first victory in the series came in September 2006 at the Sunoco 150 at Dover International Speedway, where he surpassed NASCAR's Winston Cup Series veteran Steve Park. In 2007, Andrews expanded his horizons by making his debut in the ARCA Re/MAX Series at Nashville Superspeedway.

Transition to NASCAR

Andrews shifted his focus to NASCAR in 2009, making his Nationwide Series debut at the Nashville 300, where he finished 33rd. During that season, he competed in three additional events, followed by five races in 2010. In 2011, Andrews briefly drove the No. 79 Ford Mustang for 2nd Chance Motorsports, replacing Jennifer Jo Cobb after a controversial dismissal. However, the team faced financial difficulties and disbanded after 17 races, leaving Andrews without a ride. He subsequently joined Key Motorsports.

Joining Go Green Racing

Andrews joined Go Green Racing for the final three Nationwide Series races of the 2011 season and returned to the team in 2012 with plans to compete in a limited schedule, partnering with Randy Hill Racing for Nationwide Series events and Go Green Racing for Sprint Cup Series races. Go Green Racing signed Tim's father as their crew chief for the Sprint Cup Series, marking a unique father-son combination unseen in the series since 1987. The team originally intended to make their Cup Series debut in March at Bristol Motor Speedway but delayed their first appearance until the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway in April.
