Early Life and FamilyTimea Bacsinszky is a Swiss professional tennis player. She was born on June 8, 1989, in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her father, Igor, was originally from Romania and worked as a tennis coach in Hungary. Her mother was born in Hungary and worked as a dentist. Bacsinszky has a brother named Daniel, who teaches music, and a sister named Sophie, who is also involved in music.
Early Tennis Career
Bacsinszky started playing tennis at the age of three. Even as a junior player, she showed great promise, reaching the semifinals in three championships. In 2004, she competed in the Australian Open, French Open, and Australian Open again, but was eliminated by top players Shahar Peer, Madalina Gojnea, and Agnes Szavay, respectively.
Breakthrough in Zurich Open
Bacsinszky had her breakthrough moment at the Zurich Open in 2006. After successfully qualifying for the tournament, she defeated Anastasia Myskina and Francesca Schiavone in consecutive matches.
