Early Life and Family
Timothy Hal Chalamet was born on December 27, 1995, in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City, USA. His father, Marc Chalamet, is a UNICEF employee from Nîmes, France, and his mother, Nicole Flender, is a real estate broker from New York City who was a Broadway dancer. Timothy has Russian-Jewish, Austrian-Jewish, and Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. His maternal grandfather was screenwriter Harold Flender, and his maternal grandmother, Enid Flender, was a Broadway dancer.
Education and Training
Timothy attended William T. Sherman School and Booker T. Washington Middle School. He later transferred to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, where he studied acting. He also participated in the National YoungArts Foundation program. Following the advice of Claire Danes, a co-star on "Homeland," Timothy enrolled in Columbia University to study cultural anthropology but later transferred to NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study to focus on his acting career.
Early Career: Film and Television
Timothy made his film debut in "Men, Women & Children" in 2014, after previously appearing in short films and television series. He went on to appear in films such as "Interstellar," "Worst Friends," and "Love the Coopers." He also gained prominence for his role in the television series "Homeland."
