Biography of Timothy Morhous
Timothy Morhous is an American athlete, talented fencer, and participant in multiple competitions, winning numerous awards. Currently, Timothy is a member of the United States national team, which will represent the country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Early Life and Education
Timothy Morhous was born on July 29, 1978, in the Bronx, New York. In 1996, he graduated from Riverdale Country School. During that time, Morhous participated in baseball, fencing, and cross-country running. Later, he decided to focus on fencing and was recognized as the most valuable fencer in 1995 and 1996, also serving as the team captain.
Unlike most of his Olympic teammates, Morhous pursued higher education and was accepted into Brandeis University. From the first day, he actively participated in fencing tournaments and became one of the main fencers in the NCAA during his second year of study.
Fencing Career
In 2000, Timothy Morhous was named one of the best sabre fencers. He was also awarded the IFA Cointe Sportsmanship award for his achievements in the same year. Morhous became a three-time champion in various categories, including UAA Individual Men's Saber champion from 1997 to 2000. He was also recognized as the team MVP in 1999 and 2000 while serving as the team captain.
Morhous received the prestigious Charles-Napoli Scholar Athlete Award for being the top and promising athlete at Brandeis University. In 2003, he was awarded a Masters in Education from Pace University. In 2004, Timothy Morhous was selected as a substitute for the US national team, competing in the 2004 Olympics.
Throughout his career, Morhous has participated in esteemed competitions such as the Pan American Zonal Championships, World Cup, World Championships, National Championships, and Team World Cup, among many others.
Personal Life
Currently, Timothy Morhous is actively preparing for the most significant competition of his life – the 2008 Olympics. In his rare free time, he enjoys reading books, watching movies, and spending time with his family.
