Early Life and Education

Tina Birbili is a Greek physicist and politician who holds a PhD in Ecological Economics and Management from Imperial College London (1995). She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Athens and her Master's in Environmental Technology from the same university (1991-1992).

Political Career

In 2004, Birbili served as an expert for the Ministry of Environment and as an advisor on environmental policy integration to George Papandreou, then Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change

In 2009, Birbili was appointed Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change in the government of George Papandreou. She served in this role until the government's resignation in 2011.
