Biography of Tito Ortiz

Tito Ortiz, the master of mixed martial arts, is known for his outrageous antics, scandals, and consistently high ratings of fights he participates in. Ortiz is not just a fighter - he puts on a show in the ring with blood, uncensored gestures, and indecent behavior. This is not just a marketing gimmick - he is simply that kind of guy: with Vin Diesel's looks, the manners of a country tough guy, and a crazy knockout punch.

Tito Ortiz

Early Life

Tito Ortiz was born on January 23, 1975, in a family of Mexican immigrants. He started practicing wrestling in school. Just before his prom night, while his classmates were stocking up on beer and girls were getting ready, Tito participated in the California state wrestling championship and secured fourth place. During his college years, he became a champion wrestler.

Rise to Fame

However, true fame came to Ortiz after his participation in the famous "Ultimate Fighting Championship" (UFC) events. Tito made his debut at UFC-13 and knocked out his opponent in just 0:31. His next opponent was Guy Mezger, and despite an evenly matched fight, the referee stopped the bout and awarded Mezger the victory. Tito was furious and almost started a brawl right after the fight. Mezger was quickly taken to the locker room to avoid any further confrontation. But that didn't save him from a rematch at UFC-19, where Ortiz won by technical knockout. Immediately after the fight, Tito put on a shirt with the inscription "Guy Mezger - my bitch" and began making offensive gestures towards Mezger's supporter, Ken Shamrock. Shamrock tried to confront Ortiz, but his seconds and security prevented any escalation of tension. This episode marked the beginning of the "Ortiz-Shamrock" rivalry, which later resulted in three fights between them in the ring and several scandals at press conferences. Throughout his UFC career, Ortiz taunted Shamrock, but he never found a worthy answer: Ken Shamrock fought Tito three times and consistently lost.

Championship Reign

On April 25, 2000, Tito Ortiz won the UFC champion title after defeating Wanderlei Silva. In the following three years, Ortiz defended his championship title five times - an extraordinary achievement, especially considering the skill level of his opponents. It was only in 2003 that Tito lost to Randy Couture (although it was a decision by the judges) and relinquished his championship throne. In this fight, Ortiz suffered a back injury, which caused him severe pain. In 2008, he underwent two major surgeries. It is planned that Tito will be able to return to the ring in August 2009, but it is uncertain in which version of the "Ultimate Fighting Championship" he will compete since his relationship with the UFC management has greatly deteriorated due to disagreements on several points of the contract. According to other reports, the fighter will still return for UFC-103 to fight Rich Franklin.

Personal Life

Tito Ortiz is in a domestic partnership with former porn star Jenna Jameson. The couple met in 2006, and in November of the same year, Ortiz announced in an interview that Jameson had retired from the porn industry, and their relationship was "serious." Perhaps confirmation of these words can be considered the fact that on March 16, 2009, Jenna Jameson gave birth to twins for Ortiz.
