Tobias Strebel, a 35-year-old reality TV star, spent an astounding $100,000 in pursuit of resembling his idol, pop singer Justin Bieber.
Missing Persons Incident
Strebel mysteriously disappeared in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, on August 18, 2015. He was last seen driving a 2009 Toyota Camry. His disappearance gained attention due to his previous obsession with emulating Bieber's appearance, going to extreme lengths with plastic surgeries that cost over $100,000.
'Botched' Reality Show and Bieber Obsession
Strebel appeared on the reality show 'Botched' in 2014, where he shared his peculiar aspiration. He stated, "Bieber got me with the full cheeks, the goatee, the big eyes that are very open and penetrating, the full luscious lips, and the cosmic physique. He's just unrealistically beautiful." 'Botched' is a show on E! that features plastic surgeons attempting to fix botched cosmetic surgeries.
Bieber's Controversial Persona
Ironically, Bieber's lifestyle has been marred by scandals, including arrests for DUI and drug possession, as well as involvement in physical altercations. In early 2015, he was crowned the most mockable celebrity. Strebel, however, seemed focused purely on replicating Bieber's physical traits.
Personality and Disappearance
Friends and acquaintances described Strebel as one of the nicest people they had ever met. His disappearance was described as uncharacteristic. Sadly, Strebel was found deceased on August 21, 2015, in a motel room in North Hills, Calif. The body was discovered at 5:00 PM, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.
Unresolved Circumstances
The cause of death remains undetermined, but the Los Angeles County Coroner's office reported finding drugs in Strebel's motel room. Results from the autopsy are pending release.
