Todd Love: Overcoming Adversity with Triple Amputation

Early Life and Military Service

Todd Love served as a corporal in the United States Army. In 2010, while deployed in Afghanistan, he tragically lost both of his legs and his left arm after stepping on a landmine.

Trauma and Recuperation

Facing a life-altering injury, Love experienced intense emotions of despair and anger. Through extensive rehabilitation, he developed resilience and discovered a newfound purpose. With support from family, friends, and healthcare professionals, he learned to adapt and embrace life's challenges.

Embracing Extreme Sports

Determined to prove that life with triple amputation could still be adventurous, Love pursued extreme sports. He embarked on kayaking trips, mastered scuba diving, and conquered ski slopes in Colorado and Pennsylvania. He even surfed the waves of Hawaii and wrestled alligators in Florida.

Spartan Race Victory

In 2012, Love achieved a remarkable milestone by completing the grueling Spartan Race. This 10.5-mile obstacle course, requiring participants to wear gas masks, presented a formidable challenge. Love navigated the course in five and a half hours, demonstrating his determination and fortitude.

College and Personal Goals

Love has set his sights on attending college and plans to make his first solo skydive. He believes that his military experience and subsequent injury have shaped him into a strong-willed individual.

Embracing Positivity

Despite the physical limitations presented by his triple amputation, Love maintains a positive outlook. He asserts, "I haven't lost anything. I'm still me." Love believes that humans often impose self-perceived boundaries and that anything is possible if one believes in themselves.
