Tom De Mul: Belgian Midfielder and Sevilla Player
Tom De Mul is a Belgian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Spanish club Sevilla. He has represented the Belgium national team at both senior and youth levels.
Early Career and Ajax Debut
De Mul began his football career with the youth team of Germinal Beerschot before moving to the esteemed Ajax academy at the age of 15. He made his debut for Ajax's senior team on January 25, 2004, coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over NEC. He played two matches in the 2003/04 Eredivisie season.
Loan to Vitesse and Return to Ajax
De Mul joined Vitesse on loan in 2005, making his debut in a 5-0 defeat to AZ. Despite initially coming off the bench, he established himself as a regular, playing 27 games and scoring two goals during the 2005/06 season. Upon returning to Ajax, he became a key member of the first team, featuring in 28 matches and scoring four goals during the 2006/07 campaign.
Transfer to Sevilla and Loan to Genk
In 2007, De Mul moved to Sevilla for a reported €5 million. He won the Supercopa de España with the club but struggled to break into the starting lineup. In January 2009, he was loaned to Genk, where he made 13 league appearances, scored four goals, and won the Belgian Cup.
International Career
De Mul made his senior debut for Belgium on June 2, 2007, in a friendly against Portugal. He also represented Belgium at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where his team finished fourth.
