Early Career and Professional Debut
Nicolás Avilés is a Chilean and Argentine footballer who plays as a defender for Inter Miami in the American Major League Soccer (MLS). Born and raised in Argentina, Avilés began his football journey with Racing Club. On 27 February 2023, he marked his professional debut for Racing in the Argentine Primera División during a match against Lanús.
Move to Inter Miami
On 1 August 2023, Avilés made a significant move to Inter Miami, signing a contract that extended until the end of the 2026 season, with the option of further extensions for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. His debut for Inter Miami came on 23 August, in the semi-finals of the 2023 U.S. Open Cup against FC Cincinnati.
International Career
Avilés has represented both Chile and Argentina at the international level. In 2023, he was part of the Chilean U-20 team that participated in the South American Youth Championship in Colombia. He made appearances in the matches against Venezuela, Ecuador, and Uruguay. Later that year, Avilés also featured in the FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Indonesia. He played in Chile's matches against Uzbekistan and Guatemala.
