Early Life and EducationTravis Banton was born on August 18, 1894, in Texas. His family soon relocated to New York City, where he spent his formative years. Initially, Banton excelled in creating exquisite gowns for New York's elite. His reputation soared when Mary Pickford commissioned him to design her wedding dress, solidifying his status as a renowned designer. Banton's career in Hollywood began with costume design for Paramount. He subsequently worked for Twentieth Century-Fox from 1939 to 1941 and Universal from 1945 to 1948.
