Trent Sainsbury, Australian Soccer Star

Trent Sainsbury began his soccer journey at the Australian Institute of Sport and the Perth Glory youth system. In 2010, he joined Central Coast Mariners, where he made his A-League debut two years later. During his time with Mariners, he won the championship in 2013 and received multiple Player of the Month awards.

European Stint

Sainsbury's impressive performances attracted interest from English clubs Southampton and Middlesbrough, as well as Swiss side Basel. In 2014, he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Dutch club PEC Zwolle. Despite being sidelined for the season due to a knee injury, he earned an Eredivisie title and KNVB Cup victory.

Upon recovering, Sainsbury became a regular starter for Zwolle, netting his first goal for the club in 2015. In 2016, he moved to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning for a €1 million transfer fee.

International Career

Sainsbury played for Australia's under-20 team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2011. In 2014, he made his senior international debut in a friendly against Belgium. The following year, he was part of Australia's victorious AFC Asian Cup squad, scoring his first international goal against UAE.

In 2017, Sainsbury represented Australia at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia, featuring in matches against Germany, Cameroon, and Chile.

Jiangsu Suning and Serie A Loan

Sainsbury returned to Jiangsu Suning after his loan at Inter Milan expired. In 2021, he joined Western United in the A-League Men, where he currently plays.
