Tristan Prettyman, an American author, pop singer, and former model known as Roxy, has had a career that perfectly exemplifies the saying "knocking opens doors". She was born and raised in Del Mar, California, on the shores of the ocean, on May 23, 1982. Growing up next to the ocean influenced her life greatly, as she developed a love for surfing from a young age. She even competed in surfing competitions organized by the National Scholastic Surfing Association as a teenager, earning fifth place in California.

Discovering Her Passion for Music

At the age of 15, Tristan stumbled upon an album by Ani DiFranco that left a profound impact on her. She felt a strong desire to share her own voice with the world. Determined to pursue her passion, she taught herself to play the guitar using her father's instrument and began writing her own songs. Although her parents were initially not thrilled with her newfound interest, Tristan persevered. She played for friends and attended auditions, eventually having one of her songs selected as the soundtrack for the film "Anything At All". This marked the beginning of recognition for the young talent.

Collaborating with Jason Mraz

Tristan's talent caught the attention of singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, who invited her to join him on tour. In the winter of 2004, Tristan actively collaborated with Mraz, who had previously worked with renowned artist Lenny Kravitz.
