Early Career and Rennes
Ludovic Le Pen began his professional football career at Rennes in the French Division 1. During the 1991/92 season, Rennes suffered relegation to Division 2, where Le Pen spent the following two seasons. In 1994, the club returned to the top flight.
Move to Laval and Lorient
In 1997, Le Pen joined Laval in Division 2, where he played for two seasons without securing promotion. In 1999, he signed for newly relegated Lorient, allowing him to play in Ligue 1 again during the 2001/02 season.
Brief Stint in England and Return to Strasbourg
In November 2001, Le Pen left Lorient for English Premier League club Ipswich Town. However, he made only a brief appearance for the team, playing just 13 minutes before sustaining an injury. He was subsequently loaned out to Strasbourg, which eventually became his permanent club. He remained with Strasbourg until the end of the 2005/06 season, when the team was relegated from Ligue 1.
Second Spell at Lorient and Move to Laval
In 2006/07, Le Pen returned to Lorient, which had regained its Ligue 1 status. In 2009, he moved back to Laval, now playing in Ligue 2.
