Early Life and Education
Ersan Saner was born on January 4, 1955, in Paphos, Cyprus. He completed his dental education at the Faculty of Dentistry of Istanbul University in 1983.
Political Career
Upon returning to Northern Cyprus, Saner was elected as a member of the National Unity Party to the Assembly of the Republic in a by-election in the Girne constituency in 1991. He served as Vice President of the Assembly from 2001 to 2002.
Saner was re-elected in 2003 and again re-entered the Assembly in 2009, before being re-elected in 2013. He served as Vice President of the Assembly a second time from September 4, 2013, to October 9, 2015.
Ministerial Positions
On April 6, 2011, Saner joined the government of İrsen Küçük as Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment.
From February 20, 2021, to November 5, 2021, Saner served as Minister of Health.
Following the formation of a new government, he became Minister of Interior on February 21, 2022.
Prime Ministership
Saner became the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus on May 12, 2022, after successfully forming a government.
