Biography of Uwe Kagelmann
Uwe Kagelmann was a figure skater from the German Democratic Republic (GDR) who competed in pairs skating. He achieved great success alongside his partner Manuela Groß, winning two bronze medals at the Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo and Innsbruck. They also won two bronze medals at the World Championships and European Championships.
Career
Initially, Uwe Kagelmann competed as a singles skater. However, in 1967, he made the switch to pairs skating and formed a partnership with Manuela Groß. Their coach was Heinz Lindner.
In December 1971, Groß and Kagelmann made history by being the first pair in the world to successfully perform throws, executing a double axel and a triple lutz at an international competition in Moscow.
Current Role
Currently, Uwe Kagelmann works as a figure skating coach in Austria, sharing his knowledge and expertise with aspiring skaters. Through his coaching, he continues to contribute to the development of the sport and pass on his experience to the next generation of figure skaters.
