The Origins of VZhN
In 1999, Maxim Verevkin and Yaroslav Troyan emerged as a poetic performance group under the moniker "VZhN" (Knife in the Ass). Their unique blend of poetry and performance art laid the foundation for their eventual transition into the hip-hop realm.
Emergence of the Hip-Hop Duo
Inspired by collaborations with cyber composers and the energetic hip-hop scene, VZhN evolved into a musical duo. Their debut album, "V ZhOpe Nozh - Eto Nasha Delikatnost" (Knife in the Ass - This is Our Delicacy), showcased their lyrical prowess and experimental sound.
Innovative Stage Performances
Beyond their music, VZhN continued to refine their stage performances. Their shows combined literary readings with theatrical elements, dance, satire, and projections. They placed particular emphasis on presenting serious poetic works by renowned Russian authors such as Yesenin, Pushkin, and Tvardovsky in a contemporary style.
Diverse Club and Rave Programs
By 2002, VZhN had developed several club programs tailored to different audiences. Their "PRo - Lyubov" series featured a techno operetta and a reimagining of the classic horror film "Nosferatu" as a techno musical.
Subprojects and Future Endeavors
VZhN also launched a subproject called "Detsky Nozh" (Children's Knife), which focused on the works of children's authors such as Barto, Chukovsky, and Kharms. They had plans for a new album and an updated DAB opera called "Lenin and the Stove Builder."

VZhN had performed extensively throughout Russia, including appearances at notable festivals and events such as:
