Valeri Domovchiyski

Early Career

Valeri Domovchiyski (born October 15, 1986) is a Bulgarian striker who currently plays for Botev Plovdiv. After an impressive season with Maritsa, he was acquired by Bulgarian powerhouse Levski Sofia in 2005.

Levski Sofia

Domovchiyski emerged as a key player for Levski, replacing the legendary Grigori Chelikov. He contributed crucial goals in European competitions, helping the team reach the UEFA Champions League group stages for the first time. In total, he played 19 European matches for Levski, scoring 11 goals.

Near-Transfer to Blackburn Rovers

In January 2008, Domovchiyski underwent a trial with Blackburn Rovers of the English Premier League. However, a potential deal collapsed due to health concerns discovered during his medical examination.

Loan to Hertha Berlin

On January 29, 2008, Domovchiyski was loaned to Hertha Berlin with an option to buy. He made his debut on February 10th and scored his first goal for the club against Bayern Munich on May 17th, becoming the last player to score against legendary goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.

Permanent Move to Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin exercised their purchase option on May 22, 2008, acquiring Domovchiyski for a transfer fee of €1.6 million. He helped the team win the 2. Bundesliga in the 2010/11 season.
