Early Career and Bundesliga SuccessJürgen Kohler, a renowned German footballer, spent the majority of his 20-year career in his native country. After playing for various German clubs, he joined Bayern Munich in 1991. With Bayern, Kohler won the Bundesliga title in 1990 and established himself as a formidable defender.
International Triumphs
Kohler's achievements at the international level were equally impressive. He represented the German national team and played a pivotal role in their victories at the 1990 FIFA World Cup and the 1996 UEFA European Championship.
European Conquest with Borussia Dortmund
Kohler's most successful period came during his time at Borussia Dortmund. He joined the club in 1995 and helped them win two Bundesliga titles (1996, 2002) and the 1997 UEFA Champions League, defeating his former club Juventus in the final.
Juventus Interlude
Kohler's only foreign club experience came with Juventus. He spent two seasons in Turin from 1991 to 1993, winning the UEFA Cup in 1993 and the Serie A title in 1995.
Post-Retirement Career
After retiring from playing, Kohler embarked on a coaching career. He managed the Germany national under-21 team and subsequently became sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen. He later coached Duisburg before taking charge of the Ivory Coast national team.
