A Prominent Ukrainian Statesman: Biography
Early Life and EducationValeriy Koroviy was born on November 10, 1964, in Trostyanets, Ukraine. After completing high school, he worked as an apprentice machinist from September to November 1982. Subsequently, Koroviy served in the Soviet Army from November 1982 to September 1984.
In 1989, Koroviy graduated from the Vinnytsia branch of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy. In 1994, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where he successfully defended his PhD dissertation on "Competition as a Condition for Efficient Enterprise Operation in a Market Economy."
Early Career in Government
Koroviy embarked on his government career in 1994, serving as Deputy Chairman of the Vinnytsia Regional Territorial Department of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine until 1996. He then held various positions within the Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration, including consultant in the organizational department of the secretariat (1996-1998), head of the information and analytical department of the secretariat (1998), first deputy head of the main department for economics and property (1998-1999), head of the main department for economics (1999-2000), and deputy chairman (2000-2006). From May 2006 to July 2010, he was the First Deputy Chairman of the Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration.
Private Sector Experience and Return to Government
From September 2010 to July 2011, Koroviy served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KMT, a closed joint-stock company. In July 2011, he became Deputy Mayor of Vinnytsia City. Koroviy also held the position of deputy of the Vinnytsia Regional Council.
On February 27, 2015, Koroviy was appointed acting Chairman of the Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration, a position he held until September 18, 2019.
Personal Life
Valeriy Koroviy is married to Taisiya Vasilyevna (born 1967). They have two sons, Bohdan (born 1987) and Yaroslav (born 1992).
