Biography of Valery Gubin
Valery Gubin is a Belarusian geologist and geographer, holding a doctoral degree in geographical sciences and serving as a professor. He is currently the head of the Department of Dynamic Geology at Belarusian State University.
Education and Career
Valery Gubin completed his studies at the Faculty of Geography of Belarusian State University in 1972. He began his professional career working in the Belarusian Hydrogeological Expedition from 1974 to 1985, and later at the Belarusian Scientific Research Geological Prospecting Institute from 1985 to 1998. Since 1998, he has been the head of the Department of Dynamic Geology at Belarusian State University.
Academic Achievements
In 1981, Valery Gubin defended his doctoral dissertation on the indication analysis of the structure of landscapes in central Belarus using aerospace survey materials. He later obtained his doctorate in 1993 with a dissertation on aero-landscape indication of geodynamic processes in morphogenesis, using Belarus as an example. In 2000, he was appointed as a professor.
Areas of Scientific Interest
Valery Gubin's research interests lie in the fields of regional geology and geodynamics, space methods for studying the Earth's crust and predicting mineral deposits, environmental geology, space monitoring of the geological environment and rational subsoil use, and geological education.
