Biography of Valeriy Korepanov
Valeriy Korepanov is a Doctor of Technical Sciences and the Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Lviv Center of the Institute of Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National Space Agency of Ukraine (LC IKI NASU NSAU). He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic Institute in 1965 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1970, he obtained the title of Candidate of Technical Sciences in Electromagnetic Measurements from Lviv Polytechnic Institute. In 1991, he defended his doctoral dissertation in Geophysics at the Institute of Earth Physics in Moscow.
Scientific Activity
Valeriy Korepanov is known for his research on the theoretical and methodological aspects of studying electric and magnetic fields in various environments, including space plasma, seawater, and soil. He has also been involved in the design and production of various types of magnetometers, electrometers, and calibration tools. One of his notable achievements is the creation of a new instrument, a wave probe, for measuring currents in space plasma. He has a total of 450 publications to his name.
Awards
Valeriy Korepanov has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the field of scientific research. Some of his notable awards include:
- The "For Professional Achievements" distinction from the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2013.
- The "For Merit" badge from the Aerospace Society of Ukraine in 2013.
- The A.L. Chizhevsky Medal for contributions to Russian cosmonautics from the Russian Federation of Cosmonautics in 2012.
- The State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology in 2008 for his work on "Space Systems, Devices, and Methods for Diagnosing Electromagnetic Fields in the Geocosmos."
- The Christian Huygens Medal in 2009 for significant achievements in the development of sensors and electrical and magnetic devices for the study of Earth and the Solar System.
- The Order "For Merit" of the III degree on May 15, 2003.
- The title of "Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine" in 1997.
