Childhood and Youth

Valery Mulyavin, born on July 9, 1982, in Grodno, Belarus, grew up in a family steeped in artistic tradition. His father, Vladimir Mulyavin, was the legendary lead singer and artistic director of the ensemble "Pesnyary." His mother, Svetlana Penkina, was an acclaimed actress known for her role in "Khozhdenie po Mukam." Valery's namesake was his uncle, also named Valery Mulyavin, who tragically died in a tour accident in Yalta ten years before his nephew's birth.

Parents and Family

Valery's parents met in the late 1970s. They married in 1981, and Valery was born shortly after in his mother's hometown of Grodno. Valery's older siblings included his half-sisters Marina and Olga. His father's first wife, the artist Lydia Karmalskaya, bore daughter Marina and son Vladimir Mulyavin Jr., while his second marriage to actress Svetlana Slisskaya produced daughter Olga.

Growing Up with "Pesnyary"

Valery spent his early childhood on his parents' tours. His father, despite being a stern bandleader, was a loving and supportive parent at home. He instilled in his son a passion for music and football. Valery listened to The Beatles, Queen, and classical composers like Tchaikovsky while watching sports on TV. The family shared a close bond, celebrating New Year's with his mother's signature duck and apple dish and decorating the Christmas tree with his father.
