Early Life and Education
Valery Gergiev is a Russian conductor who graduated from the Leningrad State Conservatory as a choral conductor in 1985 and an opera and symphony conductor in 1991.
Career as Musical Director
In 1990, Gergiev became the musical director of the Academy of Russian Ballet named after A.Ya. Vaganova. He has conducted performances of ballet repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre.
