Vasyl Zhuravko, a renowned Ukrainian football player and coach, made significant contributions to the sport in both playing and management roles.
Master of the Game
Zhuravko earned the prestigious Master of Sports of the USSR title in 1972, showcasing his exceptional skills on the field. As a player, he played a pivotal role in the Ukrainian "B" class championship triumph with "Avanhard" Zhovti Vody in 1966.
Coaching Achievements
Zhuravko's coaching career began with the establishment of "Mayak" Ochakov in the mid-1980s. He guided the team from regional competitions to the status of a professional club. Under his leadership, "Mayak" achieved notable successes, winning the USSR Cup among Production Collectives in 1990 and securing promotion to the second league of the USSR championship in 1991. The team's name was later changed to "Artaniya," and they competed in the Ukrainian second and first leagues until 1995.
League Triumphs
Zhuravko led "Artaniya" to significant achievements in cup competitions, including winning the Ukrainian Cup in 1990. After "Artaniya" disbanded, he became the head coach of "Evis" Mykolaiv, guiding the team to promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League. Zhuravko continued his coaching journey as an assistant coach at "Mykolaiv," "Vorskla Poltava," and Inter Baku, working alongside esteemed head coaches.
