Biography of Valery Khalilov

Valery Khalilov is a renowned conductor, composer, and member of the Union of Composers of Russia. He is also an honored artist of the Russian Federation and a distinguished member of the All-Russian Music Society. Khalilov holds the position of Chief Military Conductor of Russia and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General on July 9, 2010.

Early Life and Musical Education

Valery Khalilov was born into a family of a military conductor. At the age of four, he began composing music and displayed remarkable talent. When he turned eleven, Khalilov became a student at the Military Music School in Moscow, where he received his education in music.

In 1970, Khalilov enrolled in the Military Conductor Faculty at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. He studied under the guidance of Professor G.P. Alyavdin. After completing his studies in 1975, Khalilov took up the position of conductor at the Pushkin Higher School of Radio Electronics Air Defense Forces, the leading military institution in the country.

Accomplishments and Career

In 1980, under Khalilov's direction, the orchestra he conducted won first place in the competition of military orchestras in the Leningrad Military District. This achievement marked a significant milestone in his career and showcased his exceptional conducting skills.

In 1981, Khalilov was appointed as a professor at the Military Conductor Faculty in Moscow. Three years later, in 1984, he became the Deputy Chief of the Military Orchestra Service of the Russian Federation.

Since 2002, Khalilov has held the esteemed position of Chief of the Military Orchestra Service of the Russian Federation. He has organized numerous theatrical events and festive performances in Moscow and beyond. These events involve military brass bands from Russia as well as groups from various countries worldwide. Notable among these grand spectacles are the international military music festivals "Kremlin Stars" and "Spasskaya Tower."

Khalilov has also toured with leading orchestras of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Austria, Sweden, the United States, Hungary, Germany, North Korea, Mongolia, Poland, Finland, France, Switzerland, and Belgium.

Composer and Works

In addition to his conductor career, Valery Khalilov is a talented composer. He has created remarkable pieces for wind orchestra, including "Adagio," "Elegy," and marches such as "Cadet," "Youth," "Rynda," and "Ulan." He has also composed romantic songs and melodies.
