Biography of Van Di

Van Di, a Chinese dancer, was born in 1978. In March 1991, he was sent to the College of Arts of the Chinese Revolutionary Army to study stage art and stayed there until 1995. He then worked as a leading dancer in the Guangzhou Army Dance Troupe until August 1998. Following that, Di returned to college to obtain a graduate diploma in directing in the field of performing arts, remaining there until 2001.

Afterwards, Van Di became the principal dancer in the Guangzhou Army Dance Troupe. He has received numerous awards in various years at dance competitions, including the National "Tao Li Cup" (1994, 1996), the Gold Medal of the Guangdong Traditional Dance Competition (1996), the awards of the Army Dance Competition (2001), National Dance Competitions (1998, 2001), and a television dance competition (2002).

He has also been awarded prizes for directing and choreographing, such as the National "Wenhua Award" (2002), the First Prize at the Army Arts Festival (2004), the Gold Prize at the Fifth International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition in Japan (2005), and the Silver Medal at the Second International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition in Korea. Van Di was also awarded the Gold Prize at the "Lotus Cup" Dance Competition, as well as the prizes "Lotus Star" and "Lotus New Youth" (2005).

Van Di has performed leading roles in ballets such as "Soul of Man" and a series of major dance performances, anniversary shows, and New Year's spectacles under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, as well as corporate events. He has also directed and performed in shows at the Asian Ministers' Conference in Hong Kong (2004) and on the main stage of the Asian Arts Festival in Korea, "Color of Dance WHITE" (2005). Some of Van Di's notable choreographies include: "Another Year," "Southern Jungles," "Waves of the Ocean," "Address to the Sword," "The Last Lesson," "Madness," "Desperate," "By," "Lonely Song," "Sadness," "My Lonely Love" (opening the First Chinese Arts Festival), "I'm With You," "Night. Steps. Rifle," "Jungles Guard the Border," "Gust of Wind," "Enchanted Heart," "That Day," and "Game."

Van Di has performed in Japan, Korea, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Monaco, Luxembourg, Romania, Malta, Andorra, Mongolia, Hong Kong, and Macao.
