Biography of Vardan Gukasyan

Vardan Gukasyan is an Armenian statesman and economist. He was born in Armenia and received his education in various institutions in the country.

Early Education and Career

Gukasyan attended the Kirovakan Trade and Economic Technical College from 1978 to 1981. He then went on to study at the Shirak University of Economics and Management from 1981 to 1984, where he graduated as an economist.

State Recognition and Awards

In 2004, Gukasyan was honored with the title of "Professor of the Armenian Division of Natural and Social Sciences." He has also received several awards and medals throughout his career, including the "Golden Crown" from the Armenian Olympic Committee and the "15th Anniversary of the Earthquake in Armenia" medal from the Russian Federation.

Academic and Administrative Roles

Gukasyan served as a faculty member at the M. Nalbandian Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute from 2003 to 2008. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to the development of the institution.

Public Service and Contributions

From 1984 to 1988, Gukasyan worked as a commodities expert in the trade management system in Leninakan. In 1988, he actively participated in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and provided assistance to the Armenian armed forces.

Since 1994, Gukasyan has been involved in farming activities. From 1999 to 2012, he served as the mayor of Gyumri, where he made notable contributions to the city's development. He personally financed the restoration of the "Holy Sign" church in Gyumri.

Awards and Recognitions

Gukasyan has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions, including the Nansen Order, the Prime Minister's Medal for the 15th Anniversary of Independence, the "Akop Megapart" Medal for his contributions to the development of Gyumri, and the "Anania Shirakatsi Medal" by the President of Armenia in 2006.
