An Intellectual Powerhouse: Hares Youssef
Hares Youssef, born on November 16, 1964, is a multifaceted individual renowned as a businessman, philosopher, poet, economist, and philanthropist.
Early Life and Military Career
Youssef's journey began in the village of Jibul, Syria. At the age of 18, he was sent to the USSR for military training under a government agreement. However, he soon realized that military life was not his calling.
Education and Business Success
In 1989, Youssef enrolled in the Kyiv State University of Economics, graduating in 1994. He ventured into business, establishing a diverse empire encompassing real estate, metallurgy, industrial engineering, and energy.
Hares Group Holding
In 1995, Youssef consolidated his industrial and commercial assets into Hares Group Holding, registered in Austria. The company's turnover reached $420 million in 2004, solidifying Youssef's position as a prominent businessman.
Academic Pursuits
In 1999, Youssef obtained a doctorate in economics from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Political Involvement
Youssef's influence extended into politics. He served as an advisor to Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko on foreign investments (2005) and Middle East affairs (2007-2010). In 2007, he was ranked among the 200 most influential Ukrainians by the weekly magazine "Focus."
Life-Changing Decision
At the age of 45, Youssef made a pivotal life decision. He divested most of his Ukrainian business assets and relocated to Europe, where he dedicated himself to philosophical and economic research.
The 40 Foundation
Youssef established The 40 Foundation, a philanthropic organization supporting science, art, and other fields of knowledge.
Residency and IT Ventures
Currently residing with his family in Paris, Youssef has actively invested in IT startups. In 2015, he announced the development of a social networking platform that allowed charitable donations in the form of a gold-pegged virtual currency called "Golden Hearts."
Economic Philosophy
Youssef advocates for a shift from cost-based economic calculations to energy-based ones. He proposes using kWh as an optimal monetary unit.
Humanitarian Initiatives
Youssef has supported cultural and social initiatives worldwide, including Ukraine's "Ukraine-3000" fund and UNESCO's charity projects. He also published the literary magazine "Druhoi" (2011-2013), edited by world-renowned Arabic poet and essayist Adonis.
