Socialist Revolutionary Leader: A Life of Activism and Resistance

Early Life and Education

In 1872, a young boy named Nikolai Ivanovich Blinov was born into humble beginnings in the village of Borskoe, Buzuluk district. His early education was limited, shaping his future path as a champion of the working class.

Political Activism

In 1907, Blinov emerged as a prominent figure in Russian politics when he was elected as a deputy to the Second State Duma from the Samara province. As a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party, he advocated for land reform and social justice.

Russian Revolution and Civil War

The outbreak of the Russian Revolution in 1917 thrust Blinov into the forefront of events. He actively participated in the All-Russian Congress of Peasants' Deputies, becoming a member of its executive committee. Later that year, he was elected as part of the Socialist Revolutionary list from the Romanian Front to the Constituent Assembly, establishing himself as a key figure in the burgeoning democratic movement.

Collapse of the Assembly and Struggle for Power

In the aftermath of the Bolshevik seizure of power in October 1917, the Constituent Assembly was dissolved. Blinov joined the anti-Bolshevik Committee of Members of the All-Russian Constituent Assembly (Komuch) in Samara, serving as the head of the Department of State Properties.

Later Life and Persecution

After the defeat of Komuch, Blinov turned to work in cooperative and agricultural organizations. However, his political involvement and outspoken views made him a target of the Soviet regime. He was subjected to several arrests and exiles.

Execution and Rehabilitation

On November 5, 1937, the Soviet government executed Nikolai Ivanovich Blinov. Six decades later, in 1993, his name was posthumously rehabilitated, restoring his legacy as a courageous advocate for democratic ideals.
