Early Life and Education
Volodymyr Horbal, a Ukrainian politician, was born on March 18, 1971, in Lviv, Ukraine. He graduated from the Faculty of International Relations of Kyiv State University in 1993 and earned a Ph.D. in law in 2001. He is proficient in English, French, and German.
Banking Career
Following his university graduation, Horbal worked as a leading economist and later as the head of the department of currency and securities operations at Transkreditobank. He then held various positions at Kyiv-Pechersk Commercial Bank and FEB Commercial Bank.
In 1996, Horbal joined Intergazbank, where he rose from deputy chairman of the board to chairman of the board. In 1997, Intergazbank was renamed Ukrgazbank, and Horbal became its honorary president in 2002 after being elected to parliament.
Political Career
From 2002 to 2014, Horbal served as a member of parliament representing the Regions of Ukraine faction. He was a member of the Party of Regions' political council and chairman of its Kyiv city branch. He focused on budget issues in parliament and was involved in legislation to regulate gambling establishments.
In 2010, Horbal was appointed governor of Lviv Oblast after the election of Viktor Yanukovych as President. He was dismissed from this role in 2010 after the Party of Regions performed poorly in local elections. Horbal returned to parliament and held various government advisory positions.
Sport and Philanthropy
Horbal actively supports children's sports and has promoted programs such as the "Cup of Regions" Thai boxing tournament. He is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting young athletes.
