Childhood and Education

Born in the village of Zhelannoye, Omsk Oblast, the painter spent his early years in the countryside. From 1925 to 1929, he studied at the Vrubel Omsk Art and Industrial College in the painting and decorative arts department under the guidance of esteemed educators.

Academic Journey

After graduating, the painter briefly taught art at a secondary school before pursuing his academic pursuits further. From 1930 to 1933, he enrolled at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (LIPSA) in the monumental painting faculty, where he received mentorship from renowned artists such as Nikolay Chernychev, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Alexander Osmerkin, and Vasily Oreshnikov.

Teaching Career

Upon completing his studies at LIPSA, the painter returned to Omsk to join the teaching staff at the Omsk Art and Pedagogy College. He later relocated to the Altai Territory, where he taught at the Oyrot National Pedagogical College from 1938 to 1942.

Wartime Service and Artistic Endeavors

In 1941, the painter became a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR. During World War II, he served as a club artist in the 181st Reserve Rifle Regiment. From 1943 to 1945, he continued to teach technical drawing in a Leningrad military school.

Post-War Contributions

After the war, the painter briefly served as the director of the Omsk Art College before becoming a member of the Omkhudozhnik association. He held significant positions within the Omsk branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR and the Art Fund from 1946 to 1969.

Recognition and Leadership

The painter's contributions to local art were recognized with his election as Chairman of the Omsk Union of Artists of the RSFSR from 1949 to 1953. He also participated in two congresses of the USSR Artists' Union in 1962 and 1968.

Later Years and Legacy

In 1979, the painter became a member of the Stavropol branch of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR. He passed away in 1988 and was laid to rest in the Staroye-Vostochnoye Cemetery in Omsk.

Artistic Style

The painter's oeuvre encompasses genre scenes and portraits of his contemporaries. He also illustrated and designed books for the Omsk publishing house. His works are exhibited in the Omsk Art Museum named after M.A. Vrubel, the Altai State Art Museum in Barnaul, and the Gorno-Altaisk Museum of Local Lore.
