Vyacheslav Begidzhanov, an artist, was born on March 7, 1944, in the city of Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1957, he enrolled in the Art College of Krasnodar in Russia and graduated from the Krasnodar Art College in 1964. In 1967, he held his first exhibition in Krasnodar, showcasing his linocut technique. Since 1967, he has regularly participated in art exhibitions in the Soviet Union, Russia, other European countries, and the United States.
In 1970, Begidzhanov joined and graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Applied Arts, specializing in graphic design. In the same year, he was accepted into the Leningrad branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Throughout his career, he has illustrated numerous books, including "Fairy Tales" by Carlo Gozzi, "The Testament" by Francois Villon, and "Spanish Poetry of the 17th Century."
Begidzhanov's illustrations are done in various mediums such as gouache, tempera, and ink. His works range from small woodcuts to large-scale linocuts and colorful etchings. He has also ventured into painting, creating artworks in oil, tempera, and watercolor. Notably, he has painted murals on antique themes, with one measuring 3 by 40 meters.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Begidzhanov has also excelled in applied arts, particularly tapestry weaving. His tapestries have been exhibited in various galleries and venues in Russia and Europe. He has created a total of 40 tapestries, including notable pieces for the Gatchina Cultural Center, the Russian Dramatic Theater in Gomel, and the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
Throughout his career, Begidzhanov's works have been featured in numerous publications, and he has been the subject of television programs highlighting his artistic achievements. He has participated in over 200 exhibitions from 1967 to 2000.
Since 1969, Begidzhanov has resided and worked in St. Petersburg, Russia.
