Early Life and Education
Born on July 13, 1938, in Moscow, Polischuk hails from a humble background. His father, Abram Lvovich, worked as a packer in Zhitomir, Ukraine, while his mother, Esfir Mironovna, was a seamstress in Odessa. In the 1930s, both Abram and Esfir were sent to Moscow for education. Abram studied at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, while Esfir attended the Moscow Textile Institute. It was in Moscow that they met and married.
After graduating with honors from the Shchelkova Electrovacuum Technician College, Polischuk pursued his higher education at the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). At MAI, he actively participated in campus life, indulging in sports, student theater, and student self-governance.
Career in Telecommunications
Polischuk's professional career began as a radio assembler and technician at the Research and Development Bureau of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He subsequently specialized in radio control systems for aircraft and joined the Moscow Research and Design Institute of Network Planning and Management Systems. There, he led teams in designing and implementing complex automated control systems for various industries, including civil aviation and sporting events.
In 1975, Polischuk joined the Organizing Committee for the 1980 Olympic Games (Olympiad-80) as Deputy Head of the Main Directorate. In 1976, he was appointed Head of the Olympiad-80's Technical Directorate, responsible for all technical aspects of the Games, including communications, television, and information technology.
Under Polischuk's leadership, innovative and sophisticated communication systems were created for the Olympics. The Olympic Television Center was built in Ostankino, and the automated information system "Olympiad" was developed and implemented. The complex and large-scale technical work received widespread recognition for its efficiency and seamless operation.
Leadership in Telecommunications
From 1980 to 1989, Polischuk served as Head of the Information Systems Department and subsequently as Head of the Main Engineering and Technical Department of the Novosti Press Agency. He played a pivotal role in the merger of the high-tech sectors of information technology and telecommunications. Under his guidance, a comprehensive database and communication network was established for the Novosti Press Agency, connecting its offices globally.
In 1998, Polischuk became the Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of Russian Telecommunication Network (RTS). During his tenure, he oversaw the company's growth and transformation into a leading provider of telecommunication services in Russia. In 2004, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Next Media Group, a company specializing in interactive communication formats and info-telecommunication systems.

Polischuk's exceptional achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland of the III degree. He is also an Academician of the International Academy of Communications.
Family and Legacy
