Education and Early Career
Dr. Viacheslav Dubrovskis is a Latvian doctor and politician who began his medical career after graduating from Riga Secondary School No. 53 in 1968 and the Riga Medical Institute in 1974.
Medical Profession
From 1975 to 1980, Dr. Dubrovskis served as an anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the Kraslava District Hospital. He then moved to Riga City Clinical Hospital No. 2, where he worked as an anesthesiologist-resuscitator from 1980 to 1993. In 1984-1986, he was sent to Algeria on a medical mission.
Humanitarian Efforts and Political Involvement
In 1988, Dr. Dubrovskis provided medical assistance during the devastating earthquake in Armenia. He also served as a deputy on the Riga District Council from 1988 to 1991.
Continued Medical Practice and Political Activism
Since 1998, Dr. Dubrovskis has practiced as an anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the private company "Medserviss." In 2003-2005, he actively campaigned against the elimination of Russian schools in Latvia, participating in a hunger strike and facing administrative punishments.
Membership in ZaPChEL and Political Career
Dr. Dubrovskis joined the For Human Rights in United Latvia party (ZaPChEL) in 2004 and became a member of its board in 2005. He served on the board of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Latvia (OKROL) from 2004 to 2005. From 2005 to 2009, he served as a deputy in the Riga City Council, focusing on social and environmental issues.
